I’m tired of seeing affiliates “calling out” people on forums. Most people does it prematurely, and as a result it often ends up hurting the caller just as much as the callee.
What Happens When You Call Someone Out?
When you attack someone’s reputation in public other people will think that you are willing to do the same to them.
Lets say that you are mad that a writer/translator/designer has missed a deadline and you haven’t been able to get hold of them for the last week.
In this situation you could make a post calling them out for violating your agreement and being a bad person to work with, all of which is true.
Unfortunately for you, the other person will always think that you are overreacting, since it will be near impossible for them to see things from your point of view. Nobody thinks “that guy were right to tarnish my reputation and hurting my business”, regardless of how and why you did it.
This means that the person you are calling out is now highly motivated to “battle it out” with out in public, and prove to the world that you are difficult to work with and will call people out over minor issues.
How It Hurts Your Reputation
When other people read the thread, they will now see you arguing with someone you bought services from, which makes them think twice about working with you.
It is hard for them to judge who is right and who is wrong, since they have no way of knowing who is telling the truth, and as a result you calling someone else out, can easily hurt you as much as it hurts them.
There are times where it is appropriate to take your issues with someone public, but many times it is better to simply ask for help with getting in touch with someone instead of calling them out as a scammer.

Hey Jakob,
Nice post man. In relation to my issue, I had contacted the relevant people without success for about a month. I escalated the issue and got the result.
I do see your point, and I know you aren’t specifically talking about me. We had a great chat about this on IM.
In future, I will be listening to you more often
