Accounting is very sexy!

I’v been on the lookout for a good web based accounting application, and I think I have finally found it!

I’v just finished typing the last 2 months income and expenses into Clarity Accounting, and I haven’t had any of the problems I had with services like Freshbooks and Xero. Don’t get me wrong, I think of them are good, but it were very cumbersome for me to use them.

Why the Heck Am I Excited About This?

Well, now I can just spend 15 minutes/week typing in my income and expenses. 4 time a year I then hand my accountant the reports as well as a bunch of receipts, and I won’t have to worry about filing my taxes and all that stuff.

And the best thing is that I will probably end up saving money :-)

Why I Use Clarity Accounting

Here is a little list of the reasons why I’m currently using Clarity Accounting.

  • Web based (so I can’t lose it)
  • Very easy to add income/expenses.
  • Multiple currencies in 1 bank account (this is very handy for PayPal).
  • Show the amount of money that is supposed to be in your different bank accounts on the front page, so you will notice any errors ASAP.
  • Cheap – I’m paying 10$/month.

Why I Don’t Use Freshbooks and Xero

Freshbooks
I really like Freshbooks, but at the moment they don’t allow you to add expenses in any other currency than the default for the account. This is a deal breaker for me, since my expenses are a 50/50 split between USD and EUR.

I could create 2 different accounts, but when i don’t really need their invoicing service, it really isn’t worth the hassle for me.

If I were doing a lot of consulting I would definitely be using Freshbooks, since it is really easy to send invoices and keep track of them with Freshbooks.

Xero
Unfortunately Xero doesn’t “support my country of residence”, so that ruled them out :-(

What do you use for your accounting?
