Online Poker vs. Poker Online

The amount of searches for “online poker” and “poker online” on Google.
It makes me feel a little bit sad inside..
People Searching for “Poker Online” Don’t Know Anything About Online Poker…
…or that is at least what I like to thing (the Unknown Webmaster is pretty judgmental).
In general I would say that the people searching for “online poker” are pretty educated on the subject.
The people who are looking for “poker online” are looking for “poker” and then put the modifier “online” on the end because they want to play online. They aren’t familiar with the game, if they were, they would know that it is called “online poker”.
In my mind this mean that they are a bunch of mindless fish just who will inevitable lose their hard earned money ![]()
While I certainly don’t mind an influx of clueless people to play against, I would really cringe at optimizing my pages for “poker online” instead of “online poker”.

Hi, Interesting point
Also take note that in those languages, at least spanish and portuguese, the online is used after the noun for everything.
Oh..
Thanks, I think I have some fixing to do
Hello mate. I thought i’d check out your blog after your post in the spam thread on pal, and i must say i’m impressed. Very nice. The guy above’s right in relation to the latin terminology though. And i personaly love people who search for incorrect search terms, as it usually means they’re new, and don’t already have accounts at just about every poker site in existence.
Thanks for the kind words – I’v had a half written follow up post for this one sitting in my dashboard for a little less than a month now. I should probably get it finished up, so the world will know that I’m now slightly less ignorant when it comes to Latin languages
Good observation on the typo traffic.
