Here is a nifty little trick for you all that I don’t remember seeing used on a poker affiliate site.
You have probably noticed that a lot of TV series are using canned laughter, in an attempt to make people “think” that the series is more entertaining – I don’t like laugh tracks, but there is no denying that it works. We are all a bunch of mindless sheep that can be herded to do pretty much anything ![]()

Most of us spend the better part of the day figuring out how to get the stream of visitors to our sites to do what we want, which usually boils down to clicking on a link and then spending a whole lot of money.
There are many different ways to herd people towards our goals, and one of the most powerful ones is to show them that other people that are exactly like them are doing something, and let social proof do the work for you.
How to…
Almost poker rooms show you how many real money players you are signing up, so all you have to do is go through your stats for the last couple of months and write down how many real money player you have signed up at each poker room and convert the numbers to percentages.
All you have to do now is to pick the top 3 rooms and create some nice looking badges saying something along the lines of “72% of our readers play at Whatever Poker”, and watch all our woolly friends run off to graze at green felt of your recommended poker room.

I’v just realized that this post may seem a bit cynical – I don’t think of the people, who visit my sites, as mindless sheep
Hi Unknown
I like the idea, I have actually been thinking of doing something similar on my main site. Not the exact same, but something more interactive for visiters where they can see where other players are playing, and then if they join the can also become one of those players that they previously seen.
I like the thought process though.
I’ve been doing something very similar at CasinoSignupBonus.org – a “Players Corner” section, see this review for example:
http://www.casinosignupbonus.org/millionaire-casino-signup-bonus-review/
And it did increase the conversions for sure. Would see people read that then scroll back up to visit the casino. I find things like that can be a good selling point, and one of those things where there really are no negatives to adding, just potential positives.
Thanks a lot for sharing that page. It gave me an awesome idea for a landing page I have been tinkering with for the last couple of days.
I know this as “the sheep factor.” One of the first things I learned when I was doing sales was something along the lines of “most people today have been buying this one.”
