The picture above is an outline of the process I go through whenever I launch a new website.
It is a 30.000 ft. overview of how I’m making money.
Step 1: Proof of Concept
I start out by building a really simple website.
- It must be easy for me to create with my current skills
- It must be capable of making money.
The reason I start out with something with a super simple site is that it enable me to create a much better longterm plan. When I have spent 10-15 hours creating a site, I know with certainty if I actually like working on that kind of site and if there are some kind of glaring error in my plan.
It also allow me to get some traffic to the site, so I can start experimenting with different ways to monetize it. In most cases there are no way to tell whether your traffic will convert or not before you have actually tested it, so the sooner you can test it the better.
Step 2: Gradual Improvement
When I have a site that works on a very basic level i.e. is getting 50 visitors/week and has some of then clicking my affiliate links, I start looking at ways I can make small improvements to that site.
This may be adding a new section, improving the design, setting up split test or something entirely different. The essential thing is that every improvement isn’t any bigger than what I can do in a couple of days, so I’m sure that things will keep on moving forward even if I mess it up.

That is basically what works for me, so if you are having trouble getting your sites to the point where they make money like I had, try taking a look at the way you approach things.
